Queensland Hydro
Process Analysis within Corporate Services & Land Access / Acquisitions

QLD Hydro needs to understand their Corporate Services and Land Access / Acquisition processes better, and make improvements on known weak areas. The cope of the project selected by QLD Hydro included;
• People & Capability (Organisation & Workforce Management (OWM) processes),
• Finance, Payroll & Accounts (Finance (P2P), Planning, Budgeting, Forecasting & Reporting),
• Procurement (Source-to-Contract S2C),
• Legal, Governance, Risk & Compliance,
• ICT,
• Land Access & Acquisitions.
The approach adopted for the 10 day Discovery phase was;
• Meeting key people of the Corporate Services Teams, and other key stakeholders (Land Access & Acquisitions) as advised by the ELT,
• Identifying Top 5 ‘Problem Services’ per Functional Team, and any interdependencies,
• Developing an initial, high-level ‘Process Inventory’, to;
- start the journey of consistent identification of business services and their attendant processes,
- commence the building of QLD Hydro ‘Process Taxonomy’,
- define any additional high level pain points.
• Constructing at least one ‘Current State’ process map in a key Service area, as an illustration of the nature of the technique, and some of the benefits that it can bring to QLD Hydro.
• Reviewing with Corporate Services Managers, and thereafter with SLT and ELT for evaluation of scope for further analysis in subsequent project phases.
